# How to Set Up the VIZIO SmartCast App on Your Phone

> Download and pair the VIZIO SmartCast app to control your Smart TV, cast content, and manage settings from your iPhone or Android device.

The VIZIO SmartCast app transforms your phone or tablet into a full remote control and content discovery hub for your VIZIO Smart TV. Available for free on both iOS and Android, SmartCast lets you browse apps, cast media, and adjust settings — all from the palm of your hand. To pair successfully, both your TV and mobile device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

## Prerequisites

  * A VIZIO Smart TV connected to Wi-Fi
  * An iOS 13+ or Android 8.0+ mobile device
  * A free VIZIO account — register at [vizio.com/setup](https://www.vizio.com/setup) if you don't have one

## Download and Install

Search for **VIZIO SmartCast** in your device's app store to download the free app.

## Pair the App with Your TV

    Launch the SmartCast app on your phone and sign in with your VIZIO account credentials.

    Make sure your phone and your VIZIO TV are both connected to the **same Wi-Fi network**. Pairing will not work across different networks.

    In the app, tap the **Devices** icon at the bottom of the screen. Your VIZIO TV should appear automatically in the list of available devices.

## Troubleshooting

  Manually trigger a new pairing code from your TV by navigating to **Menu > SmartCast > Pair Device**. The code will then display on screen for you to enter in the app.

  Battery optimization settings on your phone may be causing the app to close in the background. Go to your phone's settings and **disable battery optimization** for the VIZIO SmartCast app to maintain a stable connection.
